You are just like the rest of us in the sense that you have multiple pairs of shoes to cover a variety of activities. You have the shoes you wear to work. You may have a separate pair of shoes you use for exercise and recreation. You might even have a pair of casual shoes that you wear at home.
If you do wear shoes at home, what are they? An educated guess says they are not a pair of shiny oxfords you protect with GC Tech waterproof shoe covers. They are probably something you find extremely comfortable despite an obvious lack of style and panache. But that’s okay. You are home, in a place where you do not have to worry about what you look like.
Rubber Crocs
As painful as it is for some of us to consider, plenty of people choose rubber crocs as their favorite footwear for home. Crocs are all-purpose shoes that work equally well whether you are mopping the kitchen floor or hanging out with the kids in the family room. They are not necessarily the most attractive shoes, but they perform their intended purpose.
Cheap Flip-Flops
A certain segment of the American population prefers to wear flip-flops at home. Not only that, but they also buy cheap flip-flops from the neighborhood discount store. Why not? You can still get a decent pair of flip-flops for less than $10 in most places. If they last you two years or so, you have definitely gotten your money out of them.
The only downside to flip-flops at home is that they barely offer any protection across the top of your feet. Drop something on your foot and you will definitely feel it. But then again, you run the same risk by going barefoot.
Sneakers
You may be of the mind that your feet need just as much protection at home as they do outside the home. In such a case, perhaps your favorite for home is a pair of sneakers. Yay you! Sneakers give you the opportunity to be trendy, sporty, and foot-conscious all at the same time.
Of course, you have choices. You can choose trainers that double as your running shoes. You can go for high-tops in basic black, white, or a rainbow of other colors. You can even buy slip-on sneakers if you are so inclined.
Comfortable Slippers
Working our way through the many choices for at-home footwear inevitably leads us to slippers. Are you a fuzzy slippers kind of person? If so, you might want to keep that to yourself. Fuzzy slippers are not everyone’s cup of tea.
In the absence of fuzziness, maybe your slippers are more refined and elegant. They are made with faux leather and tailored to look like you spent a fortune on them. They pair nicely with your silk pajamas and smoking jacket. If you are ever forced to get rid of all your shoes but one pair, you’re keeping the slippers.
Nothing at All
We cannot discount the fact that there are those who choose to wear nothing at all on the feet when at home. If you fall into this category, feel free to raise your hand. No one else can see you. You can happily admit that you love the freedom of walking around with bare feet. Home is about the only place you can do it, other than the beach.
So, what kind of shoes do you wear at home, if you wear any at all? Whatever makes you comfortable is good for you. That’s why it helps to have so many footwear choices.
